As it looks to make a greater push for national growth, a Richmond-born startup that dispatches help on-demand for seniors is no longer technically Richmond-based after it recently hired a new out-of-state leader.
Naborforce has vacated its Scott’s Addition headquarters at 3015 W. Moore St. just a few months after bringing on Texas-based CEO Amy Kaszak.
Kaszak is taking over for Paige Wilson, who founded the company in Richmond in 2018 and exited earlier this year.
Kaszak previously spent a decade in Richmond building out healthcare company AllyAlign Health and is now located in the Lone Star State. She told BizSense that after she ascended to the CEO role at Naborforce, the company decided to shutter its Richmond office and operate in an all-virtual environment. The move was a “strategic decision” to focus on national growth.
“I do spend some time in Richmond, but here’s the reality. … Naborforce is going to be a national company. We’re already in multiple states today. Our team is spread out across four states today. I see that continuing,” Kaszak said.
Through its online platform, Naborforce connects assistants, which it calls Nabors, to help older adults with tasks such as nonmedical help in the home, rides for appointments, everyday errands and companionship.
The company, which has raised roughly $13.4 million in investor capital to date, has 10 full-time employees on its core team and around 800 Nabors. Most of the Nabors work as 1099 contract workers. The company’s Richmond-based employees have moved to a virtual format, though all have been retained by the company amid the office closure.
Naborforce has around 1,700 clients using the platform.
Though no longer headquartered locally, Richmond remains Naborforce’s largest market, followed by Bethesda, Maryland, and Atlanta, Georgia.
The company has been growing its territory since its founding, and is in 14 markets across the U.S., such as Dallas, Texas and Savannah, Georgia. Other markets in Virginia include Charlottesville, the Northern Virginia region, Virginia Beach and Williamsburg.
Kaszak has worked in the healthcare industry for the past three decades. She previously spent a decade at AllyAlign Health, a health care management company founded locally by Will Saunders, who founded and is now CEO of At Home Harmony.
She worked locally at AllyAlign Health until 2023, when the company merged with two other firms to form Curana Health, and Kaszak relocated to the greater Houston, Texas, area, working with Curana Health.
Kaszak began looking for her next chapter last December and said she was approached by a Naborforce board member about taking on the CEO role after founder Paige Wilson decided to retire earlier this year.
When reached for comment this week, Wilson told BizSense that after Naborforce reached profitability in the fall of 2025, she “felt maybe it was time to turn over the reins,” adding that the company was amazing but that building it was “all-consuming.”
Wilson declined to comment on what she’s working on now but alluded to the fact that she may be involved in building another company in the future.
In the CEO role since March, Kaszak said the company is eyeing other markets while also expanding its existing markets.
“We have opportunity where we already are, and we’ve got the ability to go deeper, so that’s what we’ve been doing right now. With that being said, looking (ahead), there is need across the country,” she said.
