One of the larger residential properties in Midlothian’s Salisbury neighborhood eclipsed the $3 million mark to take the top spot among the highest-priced home sales in metro Richmond last month.

The 8,300-square-foot house on a 4-acre lot at 14121 W. Salisbury Road, just west of Salisbury Country Club, was the top seller for October at $3.15 million.

The six-bedroom home with six bathrooms and two half-baths was listed in July with a $3.4 million price tag. The asking price was dropped to $3.19 million in September and went under contract a few days later.

The property includes a heated saltwater pool and pool house.

Breana Beauford with The Hogan Group had the listing for the seller, listed in Chesterfield property records as a trust tied to local businessman Michael Congdon. The property had been in that ownership since 2017, when it last changed hands for $1.7 million.

Jill Davenport with The Steele Group | Sotheby’s International Realty represented the buyers, listed on the property record as Anna and Ian Pierce. Calls to Davenport seeking comment were unreturned Thursday.

Beauford said interest in the listing was high, with five or six showings the first weekend it was listed and three to four on average weekly after that. She held a broker’s preview that helped drum up interest, which she said resulted in four offers on the property.

“Considering the price point, I was pretty pleased with the amount of interest,” Beauford said. “The (offer) that we stuck with had the best terms and an appealing closing date, because my clients were closing on another home, and so we were able to match those dates together.”

Beauford said the sellers are downsizing locally but declined to discuss them further.

Built in 1984 on one of nine comparably sized, largely wooded lots in Salisbury’s Braemar Court enclave, the Georgian Colonial Revival-style house was renovated in 2008 and enhanced in recent years with an encapsulated crawlspace and other improvements.

With parking for at least a dozen vehicles and catering access for large events, the property was “created for grand-scale entertaining,” Beauford’s listing described it, and said it has hosted weddings and served as a film and photography location. Beauford said a Netflix horror movie filmed at the pool, which also was used for a photo shoot for Richmond Ballet.

A three-story foyer with marble flooring and winding staircase highlights the house, which has a primary suite with gas fireplace, laundry and wet and dry bars; a dual-oven kitchen and sizeable bathrooms with showers and bathtubs.

The Georgian Colonial Revival is on a 4-acre wooded lot, one of the largest in the Salisbury neighborhood.

The property also has a heated saltwater pool; a pool house with deck, rooftop terrace and open-air kitchen; a stone outdoor fireplace; and a two-car garage. The landscaped grounds include trails through the wooded parts of the property.

Chesterfield most recently assessed the property at $2.28 million
